REXUS gratings have been designed for efficient, high-volume water capacity. They also incorporate a spring bar locking mechanism for added security, and other advanced features for enhanced ergonomics and road durability.

Made from ductile iron — an engineered material that offers many advantages over traditional cast iron — REXUS gratings deliver excellent performance in all the key areas of concern to municipal engineers.

Hydrulic Capacity

REXUS gratings are designed to maximize water absorption.
• Longitudinal slots parallel to curb and inlet capture most significant flow
• High waterway area: 290 square inches
• Hydraulic deflectors create turbulence to increase water capacity

Ergonomics

REXUS gratings are designed to be ergonomically positive — that is, easy for one person to operate, with no special equipment necessary.
• Hinged design
   - Reduces physical effort required to operate by over 50%
   - Eliminates the need to remove the grate (though it can be completely
   removed if necessary)
   - Ensures that grate remains securely attached to frame while opening
   and closing
   - Grate hinges back to 120°, allowing full access to catchpit basin

Stability

REXUS gratings are designed to be highly durable, a benefit that is made possible by the excellent mechanical performance of ductile iron. The wedge seating design limits movement, reducing noise and wear.
• Three times the load strength of typical cast iron covers
   - Capable of withstanding an average load of 100,000 lbs.
   - Far exceeds AASHTO H20 heavy-duty loading standard: 32,000 lbs.
   - Independently tested and certified
• Exclusive frame with LTS® (Load Transfer System)
   - Efficiently distributes load into surrounding structure
   - Reduces risk of distortion and mortar cracking
• Three or four sided flanges available

Safety

REXUS gratings are designed for safe use by installers and maintenance personnel.
• Ductile iron
  - Product weighs 50% less than typical cast iron covers, reducing risks
    of manual material handling (MMH)
• Hinge design
   - Left- or right-hand design permits grate to be opened into face of
     oncoming traffic; if left open, grate will close when struck by vehicle
• Public safety
   - Studding on gratings and slot layout provide improved slip resistance
     for pedestrians and cyclists
   - Slot size and orientation minimize risk of accidents for pedestrians,      wheelchair users and cyclists

Security

REXUS gratings are designed to provide two levels of security.
• All gratings include standard spring bar locking mechanism, which
requires a tool and specific knowledge to be released
• Optional PENTA locking kit available
- Special locking wrench required to open lock
